Equal education = UNEQUAL pay. The Gender Wage Gap persists.


It’s 2012 and you would have thought that the gender wage gap was a thing of the past. Sadly not.

Take a look at the infographic below sent to me by Kayla Evans, contributor to LearnStuff.com, which recently published the infographic shown below. She is working with this project to build a free web resource, rich with highly relevant educational materials .

Although US based, those statistics are broadly in line with figures from other developed international economies. Even with moves toward equalizing pay between men and women, men still earn almost 20% more than women in nearly all U.S. industries, despite the fact that 60% of graduates are women who achieve higher G.P.A’s than their fellow male students.

They receive the same education, with no reduction in tuition fees, and manage identical levels of debt upon graduation. The benefits of paying women equally are demonstrated below by the subsequent improvement on GDP, while reducing the poverty rates for low income families.
