Quotes to boost women in tough times

What a year we are having. Many will be wondering what the next months will bring us. The reality is that the experts are only projecting. No one has any concrete ideas. That in itself is worrying and leaves us feeling anxious and uncertain. But we can take charge of the things we can control in our own sphere of activity and influence. Here are some powerful quotes from inspirational women and one man (gender balance right?) to give you boost you need.

We CAN choose our attitudes to how we respond to our circumstances.

5 Quotes to boost women in tough times

1. Michelle Obama

Value your intelligence. “I thought being smart was cooler than anything in the world.”  Know your achievements and give your confidence a boost. Make a list of your recent accomplishments.

2. Mary Kay Ash

Decide where you are going to sit and who you are going to be – on the sidelines or in the middle of the action?  The past few years have been characterised by women speaking out. Harvey Weinstein has been jailed because of those courageous women. “There are three types of people in this world: those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happened.”

3. Sarah Blakely

You know more than you think. Don’t let uncertainty overwhelm you. If you want that job apply for it. Don’t be put of by what might happen. You don’t need to fulfil 100% of the job ad – it’s a nice to have, ideal world list. Go for it!  “Don’t be intimidated by what you don’t know.”

4. Eleanor Roosevelt

Believe in yourself. You can do it! “You must do the things you think you cannot do”.  We have all felt frustrated by the isolation and confinement restrictions. But it is still possible to take some action. Make sure you do that!  Whether it’s getting through this healthy safe and sane, thinking about personal coaching or asking your boss for skill development when this is all over.

5. Albert Einstein

Learn the lessons from the past and move on!  Women shouldn’t get hung up on what they can’t change. Let it go. If there are  toxic people and bad habits holding you back let them go too!  “Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.”  Find a mentor or even better a sponsor to support and encourage you to achieve your  goals and reach your potential.
