A Habit You’ll Want to Keep Forever

Creating a Habit

We are creatures of habit so let’s take advantage and use this to help us create what we want most effectively and easily.

Think about the first thing you do when you get out of bed in the morning or the simple habit of washing your face and brushing your teeth. You’ve developed a routine at certain times of the day. And these routines, practices, and “habits” are what truly begin to shape our reality.

As we enter the last quarter of the year, it’s a great time to focus on our strengths and our habits, and make certain that we’re staying the course for the wonderful outcomes we imagined earlier this year.

“Keep your eye on the prize”, “stay the course,” “keep it up”. These sayings may sound cliche, but there is a reason we repeat these kinds of mantras. Cultivating persistence and consistency is SO worth the effort! It is the practice of creating habits and consistency that will bring us good feelings and a calm mindset.

Consistency seals the deal… it is crucial to our success! Only when we keep at it, when we keep going, will we begin to see the evidence of what we desire. Consistency requires patience, resolve, and determination through repetition. And repetition is the critical aspect of establishing a habit or practice.

Your Most Important Habit…

There is an overriding, most important habit that I’d like to discuss. If we want to build a foundation of happiness and joy from which we can achieve everything else that we desire, here’s what we need to do.

Be persistent by creating a new habit that will serve you well in achieving what your heart truly wants. This is the one, most important habit that can truly change your life in such an amazing, positive way. It is the habit of maintaining a calm mindset in the present moment. This is what “living in the present” truly means. It’s the ability to feel good (to feel love) and be calm in any situation. When we are truly living in the “now” we know that we are, because we will only feel good. At that moment we are living from our heart and allowing our heart to lead our thoughts, words and actions.

We are creatures of habit, and are incredibly powerful beings! It is so wonderful to know that how we create our lives is up to us. It doesn’t get much better than that! So, let’s take advantage of our human nature and love of forming habits, and use this to help us create what we want most effectively and easily.

It isn’t enough to pay attention to our mindset every now and again. Just like any habit, we must do it consistently to get the results we want. We must pay attention to it every day, throughout our day.

By consistently checking in on our mindset. By consistently feeling gratitude and love for everyone and everything, including ourselves. We need to feel love for the essence of who we are. Then we need to feel love and gratitude for others, simply for the fact that we all exist and are beautifully connected. Think about this as often as possible, many times a day. This is the action that creates a calm state of mind. This is how we take advantage of our routine and make it work in our favor.

As you do this, you will find that you have successfully developed a new and powerful habit. Not only will this feed your soul, it will become as automatic as washing your face and brushing your teeth.

So, keep your eye on the promises you’ve made to yourself this year! Stay with that picture of what you want in your mind. Then keep going by creating a daily habit that makes you feel great and brings you a beautiful sense of peace and calm.
