Confidence Building Workshop for Professional Women
By: Dorothy Dalton

Confidence at Work: Overcoming Bias, Self-Doubt & the Imposter Phenomenon
Low professional confidence is rarely a purely internal issue. Research shows that many of the behaviours described as a ‘women’s confidence gap’ — not speaking up, over-preparing, underselling — are rational responses to environments where women who do speak up, take risks, and self-promote are penalised more than men who do the same. This workshop addresses both the internal work and the external conditions that make confidence harder to sustain.
Format
Duration: 2 hours online
Location: Online or in person
Who Should Attend
- Professional women who want to build more consistent and visible confidence at work
- Women preparing for high-stakes situations: promotion discussions, presentations, leadership transitions
- HR and L&D professionals running women’s development programmes
- Organisations whose engagement data shows confidence or visibility gaps in underrepresented groups
What This Workshop Covers

The Confidence Gap: Myth and Reality
A research-grounded examination of what drives low professional confidence in women — including the double bind of the likability penalty, the documented backlash against confident women, and the way psychologically unsafe environments systematically erode confidence over time.
Understanding the Imposter Phenomenon
The impostor phenomenon is not a personality flaw; it is a well-documented psychological pattern that affects most high-achievers. Participants learn what it is, what it is not, and what specific strategies help to interrupt the cycle of self-doubt that holds capable professionals back.
Your Confidence Baseline
Participants identify their own confidence profile: the situations in which they feel most and least confident, the triggers that undermine confidence at work, and the strengths and evidence they consistently discount. This is the foundation for building from reality, not performance.
Practical Tools for Visible Confidence
Specific, evidence-based techniques for being heard, seen, and taken seriously: how to speak up in meetings, how to self-advocate without triggering backlash, how to handle being talked over or credited poorly, and how to build the visibility that creates career opportunities.
Building Confidence That Lasts
Confidence is not a fixed trait; it is a practice. This section focuses on the habits, mindsets, and external conditions that sustain confidence over time: boundaries, feedback, peer support, and the structural changes that organisations need to make if they want confident people, not compliant ones.
What You Will Leave With
- Understand the internal and systemic drivers of low professional confidence
- Recognise and interrupt imposter phenomenon patterns in their own thinking and behaviour
- Identify their personal confidence profile and the specific triggers that undermine it
- Apply at least three practical tools for greater visibility and self-advocacy at work
- Build a sustainable confidence practice rather than a one-day fix
The 3Plus Difference
3Plus International’s confidence workshop is grounded in trauma-informed practice and psychosocial safety research, which means it takes the environment seriously, not just the individual. Participants are not told to ‘lean in’ or ‘fake it till they make it’. They are given honest, evidence-based tools for navigating real professional environments.
